10/3/19 - Capt Dave Stewart
The fall season is setting up to be a great one. Loads of trout, small and some really nice fish, have been caught of late with the normal flow as water cools for them to move up into the creeks for the winter.
If you know the progression you can follow them in and out through the seasons. They will be moving in as water temps cool into the 60’s feeding heavy for winter. They will inhale soft plastics under rattle floats and suspending hard plastics. As waters cool the rate of action needs to slow with lures as their metabolism does too. I recommend getting rid of trebles on All baits to aid in clean release of fish and help removal from yourself! Remember you limits and please keep only what you will eat.
The rock should get fired up foraging on the massive bait around with the top water bite the best. Get in the structure early and hang on – again use inline hooks on your baits. Jigging soft plastics on ledges and structure (bridges/docks) is very effect too. The THUMP is awesome. Oh, reminder – Catch and Release ONLY.
Big Reds will be heading out – may stay around some if weather stay hot but will file out as it cools. Season was different to say the least this year but some really nice fish were caught and released.
Tight Lines and be Safe
