10/1/19 - Toby Burton
Bay River - Vandemere, Bear, Gales, Bonner Bay, Trent and surrounding creeks are already holding large numbers of trout. This fall should be one for the books! The top water bite at first light is producing some large trout. Zara-spooks, One knockers, KVD sexy shads, and chug bugs are all excellent choices. Popping Corks and MirrOlures are bringing trout to the boat throughout the day. Gulp jerk shads, Zoom and Zman jerk shads under 2 1/2 feet of the 4horsemen pencil popper has been our go to . The 4horsemen cork has really stepped up the game in the popping world. Its high pitch and durability have proven itself to me to be one of the best corks on the market. 1/8th and 1/16 jig heads are highly effective under the cork. Our new custom MR17 MirrOlures in blue pepper neon and cracked chicken are also keeping up with the cork during the day to bring fish to the boat.
Neuse River - Slocum, Broad, Goose, Dawson’s, Adams, Greene, China Groove and South River are also holding good numbers of trout, red fish and the ole drum are still hanging around. Popping corks with D.O.A. shrimp shrimp patterns have been an effective choice for our customers. MR 17 MrrOlures in Madi-Gras, Texas Tea, Green Olive, Electric Chicken and the new skins Mullet are all catching fish. For the Ole drum 4horsemen and Blabber Mouth corks with a trailing Zman or DOA airhead are still pulling up the big ones.
New River- Our new MR 17 in Golden Bream is a must have for the fall bite that is approaching soon. French, North East, Downtown Jacksonville and the New River Inlet are holding good numbers of fish . Billy Bay perfect sinkers and Halo shads have been solid choices. MR17 in Electric Chicken and the skins Mullet are working as well. The popping cork has again been proven effective in all of the creeks.
Morehead City - Haystacks, Harlowe, Core, North, Back and Kellums Creek are holding decent fish . Keep an eye on the tides and do not forget to fish the the Larger Structure areas (Bridges and deeper waters ) for Sheephead, Black drum, Red drum, Spot and Mullet Runs.
Fall will be here soon, the bite is going to be epic!
See ya on the water
