Inshore Saltwater

The inshore bite continues to be HOT!! Spawning females are Full Of Eggs and Hungry.. Slot Reds are being found more frequently and the EXTINCT FLOUNDER are being caught (Season Opens Right Around the Corner)!!

The early bird definitely gets the worm this time of year. As air temperatures increase, the morning bite is your best time of the day as fish feed in the cooler waters. Once the sun gets up, slide into deeper areas and change baits to swimmers and jigs. Usually targeting 5’ and shallower water early morning will produce your best results. Top water Spooks, Chug Bugs, and Skitter Walks are productive. DON’T OVERLOOK THAT POPPING CORK!! What these fish are eating depends on the area you are fishing. It’s time for shrimp… so keep that in mind!! Evening bites can be productive as well - but not usually as strong as the morning bite.

A quick note on those spawning fish, especially trout… the BIG GIRLS ARE’NT GOOD TO EAT. Lets release those spawning fish to raise some more!!
